West Godavari
West Godavari District is situated on the west banks of river Godavari and is
known as rice granary of Andhra Pradesh. It is bounded by Khammam District on the
north, Krishna District on south west and Bay of Bengal on the south. The District
has 3 different geographical zones the delta, the upland and Agency track. The
Kolleru Lake, which connects the West Godavari District and Krishna District is an
extensive shallow depression and is an ideal place for breeding. The Kolleru Lake is
identified for development as tourism place.
Paddy is the priciple crop of the District besides Sugarcane, Chilles, Coconut
and Tobbaco. The Upland area of the District is rich in substantial production of
Mango, Cashew, Citrus and other fruits. In costal areas fish culture and prawn
culture is developed in the last decade. Fish and prawn is exporting from the Districts
to other countries and West Bengal and other north eastern states in the count
